Emersound – Aquel Beijo

Here’s a video for Aquel Beijo from Emersound that was partially shot at Hot Milk Studio back in 2009. Aquel Beijo is a track from his album Mi Raza. I just discovered the video recently so I’m sharing it now. The style of this song is forró from Northeastern Brazil, which often has accordion, zabumba and triangle. Cool stuff!

Here is an interview with Emerson at WDR funkhaus europa (in German).

About Emersound

In 1995 Emersound started his first band Papo Fino in southern São Paulo. The seven-piece impressed audiences with their mixture of Salsa and Samba in countless clubs and cultural centres throughout São Paulo and vicinity.
In 1999 he left the group to start his solo career as a percussionist. As when he was a member of the samba troup Vai vai, he accompanied many established musicians and composers in the MPB and samba styles such as Jorge Aragão, Almir Guineto, Arlindo Cruz, Sombrinha und Morais Moreira.

After being invited by the Brazilian embassy in Chile, he stayed in Santiago de Chile for three months in 2002 to perform and teach percussion at an Art History faculty with a special focus on Northeastern Brazilian styles. After completing his assignment there, he chose to remain and toured throughout Chle with well-known musician Joe Vasconcellos. In 2005, he was invited by production firm Aplaplac to contribute music to the very popular children’s series 31 minutos.

In 2006 he worked with Chilean producer Pedro Melo to produce his first solo album Mi Raza with his own compositions. Mi Raza is distributed by Oveja Negra and published by Warner Chappell. His song No-K-Che-Na reached the Top 10 of the most popular radio stations and Internet platforms. He was also nominated for the Chilean music prize Altazor in both the Creative Lyrics and Musical Realisation categories.

During 2008, Emersound crossed the Atlantic to start his career in Europe. He performed at international festivals in Spain, Italy, France, Croatia, England, Switzerland and Germany. In Berlin, he met the Brasil Power Drums band and appeared internationally with them at: Korea (Seoul Drums Festival), Morocco (Musique du Monde), England (New Castle Festival), Croatia (Zagreb and Split), Czech Republic (Prague). He recorded his second album Live In Santiago De Chile (2009), recorded live by Universidad de Chile.

During a concert at one of Berlin’s best known clubs (Kulturbrauerei), he recorded his first live concert DVD with the participation of several drummers from Berliner Maracatu band Baque Forte Berlin.
