One of the acts I had the great pleasure of working late 2011 was The Kirtaniyas. We first met while recording a track (Gopi Lullaby) for the Hearttones CD with producer Philipp von Rothkirch. The Hearttones session went very smoothly and the vibe was definitely concentrated yet relaxed. With that good experience in mind, we set out to record a full album from summer to fall 2011. The goal was to capture the live vibe and spontaneity of a typical kirtan show from The Kirtaniyas while still maintaining the sonic integrity of a studio recording. This meant no click tracks and lots of group interplay and gang backing vocals. This came through in the final album with its lively vibe, warm sonics and engrossing nature.
